ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce said Thursday it would resume training after sporting activities were suspended across the country because of the coronavirus.

Footballers will train May 4 at the Fenerbahce Can Bartu Facilities in groups of four in different areas of the field.

After one group completes training, players in another group will begin fieldwork.

Turkey suspended sporting events March 19 to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Turkey has a death toll of more than 3,000 from the virus but the number of recoveries from the novel coronavirus has exceeded 44,000 in Turkey, surpassing one-third of the total case tally, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said Wednesday.

A total of 5,231 patients were discharged from medical care in the last 24 hours alone, making the total of 44,022 patients released.
