Football: Fenerbahce hire Koeman to assist manager Cocu

ANKARA (AA) – Istanbul-based football giants Fenerbahce have hired Erwin Koeman from the Netherlands as assistant manager, the club announced Friday.

Fenerbahce said on their website that Koeman, 56, would assist club manager Phillip Cocu, also from the Netherlands.

Speaking to Fenerbahce's TV channel, Koeman said: “Fenerbahce is a very good family and the club has a warm atmosphere inside. ”

Koeman has managed Dutch teams Utrecht, Waalwijk and Feyenoord as well as the Hungarian national team.

He also served as assistant manager for PSV Eindhoven and in English clubs Southampton and Everton.
