UPDATE – Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at Friday close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the week at 1,537.89 points, slightly down 0.01% day-on-day.

Starting Friday at 1,533.43 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 0.15 points over Thursday's close of 1,538.04 points.

During the day, the index's lowest value was 1,528.47 points, while its daily high was 1,542.41 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.17 trillion Turkish liras ($157 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 11.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.59 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 47 stocks on the index rose, 50 fell, and three were unchanged compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by petrochemical firm Petkim, private lender Garanti, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

IT company Indeks Bilgisayar was the best performer, with its shares up 6.82%, while stocks of real investment trust firm Ozak Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi dropped the most, 6.14%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,712.30 by market close, up from $1,697.95 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $69 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday.
