Turkey's benchmark stock index up at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.38 percent or 365.92 points to start the day at 97,819.88 points on Friday.

Among all sector indices, the BIST leasing factoring index showed the best opening — up 2.46 percent — while the BIST insurance index posted the worst performance with a 0.85-percent fall.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went down 1.55 percent to close the day at 97,453.96 points with a trading volume of 7.8 billion liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Thursday's closing rate of 5.5820.

The euro/lira rate was 6.4330 , versus 6.4210 at the previous close, while one British pound was traded for 7.3360 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY was 7.3200 at Thursday's close.

The price of Brent oil was $79.65 per barrel as of 09:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, up from around $66 at the beginning of this year.

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 0.17 percent to close at 98,466.42 points on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 98,573.87 points and ended day down 164.85 points from the previous close.

The BIST 100's daily peak was 99,224.28 points while it fell to 97,906.63 points during Tuesday's trading. Compared with the previous close, 52 stocks on the index rose, 38 fell, and 10 were flat.

Among all sectors, the BIST leasing factoring index recorded the top performance — up 14.70 percent — and the BIST transportation index showed the largest decline, falling 3.35 percent.

Shares of leasing company Is Finansal Kiralama (ISFIN) enjoyed the highest gain, rising 19.91 percent, while stocks of casting producer Cemas Dokum (CEMAS) fell the most with a 19.85-percent drop.

The benchmark index' trade volume was 8.7 billion liras ($1.5 billion), ending Tuesday with a total market value of around 645 billion liras ($111 billion).

Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ($7.17 billion), iron and steel producer Eregli Demir Celik ($6.56 billion), and energy giant Tupras ($5.92 billion) were the leading companies by market capitalization.

Daily trade volume leaders were national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, lenders Garanti Bankasi and Halkbank, defense company Aselsan, and petrochemicals producer Petkim.

As of daily close, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira stood at 5.7780, versus Monday's closing rate of 5.7830.

The euro/lira rate was also stable at 6.7010, compared to 6.7020 at the previous close, and one British pound exchanged for 7.6440 liras, as the GBP/TRY was 7.6080 at Monday's close.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,225.10 at Tuesday's close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, while the price was $1,225.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was around $80.85 per barrel as of 6:15 p.m. local time (1515GMT), hovering between $79.81 and $81.19 during Tuesday's trading.

Since the beginning of this year, Brent oil price has risen from $66 a barrel.

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed 2.04 percent to close at 98,631.27 points on Monday, while the value of the Turkish lira against the U.S. dollar hit a two-month high.

Starting the week at 97,346.96 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 1,973.85 points from last week's close of 96,657.42 points. For a third consecutive business day, the BIST 100 closed the day in the green, as it rose by 0.32 percent on Thursday and 2.02 percent on Friday.

The BIST 100 saw above 99,000 points — reaching daily peak at 99,037.88 points in Monday's trading. Compared with the previous close, 86 stocks on the index rose, 12 fell, and two were flat.

The BIST banking index showed the strongest performance among all sectors, rising 4.99 percent, while the BIST metal products machinery index fell the most with a 0.20 percent drop.

Shares of casting producer Cemas Dokum (CEMAS) were the top gainer — up 12.93 percent, and stocks of automotive manufacturer Ford Otosan (FROTO) saw Monday's worst record, going down 4.25 percent.

The BIST 100's listed companies' trade volume was 9.72 billion liras ($1.67 billion), ending Monday with a total market value of some 645 billion liras ($109.3 billion).

Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ($7.13 billion), iron and steel producer Eregli Demir Celik ($6.51 billion), and energy giant Tupras ($5.78 billion) were the leading companies by market capitalization.

Private lender Garanti, defense company Aselsan, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, state-run lender Halkbank, and petrochemicals producer Petkim recorded the highest daily trade volumes.

By market close, the USD/TRY exchange rate fell to 5.7830, down from Friday's closing rate of 5.9320, marking the lira's best showing in two months.

The average U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.04 during the first two weeks of October, 6.38 last month, and 5.74 in August.

The euro/lira rate also showed a steep decline — standing at 6.7020 versus 6.8510 at the previous close — and one British pound exchanged for 7.6080 compared to 7.8240 at Friday's close.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,225.00 at Monday's close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, while the price was $1,221.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was around $80.58 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), hovering between $79.86 and $81.86 during Monday's trading.

Turkey's benchmark stock index up at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.38 percent or 364.01 points to open the day at 96,451.28 points on Tuesday.

At the daily open, all sector indices saw rises, but the BIST telecommunication index gained the most — up 0.85 percent.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.27 percent on Monday to close the day at 96,087.27 points, with a trading volume of 7.6 billion liras ($1.23 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.0980 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 6.1260.

The euro/lira rate was 7.0020 on Tuesday morning, versus 7.0340 at the previous close, while one British pound was traded for 7.9940 Turkish liras, down from 8.0100 at Monday's close.

The price of Brent oil was $84.46 per barrel as of 10:30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) Tuesday, starting the day at $83.73, up from around $66 at the beginning of this year.

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Monday at 99,547.44 points, up 1.59 percent from previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbs 1,559.28 points from last week's close of 97,988.16 points, while it started the first business day of the week at 98,284.19 points.

By market close, the benchmark index saw its highest close over the last four months, while the market value of listed shares on the BIST 100 totaled 651 billion Turkish liras (nearly $104 billion) with a trade volume of 10.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).

During the sessions, the BIST 100 hovered between 97,781.97 points and 99,561.95 points, as 65 stocks on the index rose, 30 fell, and five were flat compared to the previous close.

Among all sectors, the BIST banking index was the top gainer of the day, rising 6.30 percent, while the BIST wholesale and retail trade index did the worst, falling 1.26 percent.

Shares of real estate investment trust Ozderici (OZGYO) showed the best performance — up 13.68 percent — and stocks of Ege Endustri (EGEEN), which manufactures components for the automotive industry, saw the biggest drop of the day, down 5.81 percent.

Monday's most traded listed companies were national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti, leading defense company Aselsan, plus lenders Yapi Kredi and Akbank.

The BIST 100's market value leaders were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding with some $6.92 billion, followed by iron and steel producer Eregli Demir Celik ($6.33 billion) and energy giant Tupras ($5.45 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.1590 as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) Monday, compared with the previous close of 6.2920.

One euro traded for 7.2780 Turkish liras at close, versus 7.3930 at Friday's close. By market close, the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 8.1170, down from 8.2270 at the previous close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,200.00 at Monday's close, compared with $1,206.00 at last week's close.

As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at $80.03 per barrel, hovering between $79.06 and $80.31 during the day. Since the beginning of this year, Brent oil price has risen from $66 per barrel.

Turkey's Borsa Istanbul goes up at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's stock exchange increased 0.78 percent, or 729.71 points, to open at 94,812.05 points on Monday.

Among all sector indices, the telecommunication index posted the best performance, up 1.65 percent, while the basic metal index came up as worst, down 0.04 percent.

The BIST banking index and the BIST holding index increased 1.22 percent and 0.75 percent, respectively.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 94,082.34, up 1.16 percent, with a trade volume of 6.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.35 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 4.7700 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday. It was 4.7810 at Friday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate decreased to 5.6000, compared to Friday's close of 5.6070.

The price of Brent oil was $72.95 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday.

Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's stock exchange increased 0.87 percent, or 862.21 points, to open at 99,596.10 points on Monday.

Among all sector indices, the transportation index posted the best performance, up 1.70 percent, while the investment trusts index had the worst, down 0.07 percent.

The BIST banking index and the BIST holding index increased 1.05 percent and 0.68 percent, respectively.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 98,733.89, up 0.37 percent, with a trade volume of 7.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 4.5510 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday. It was 4.5820 at Friday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate decreased to 5,3600, compared to Friday's close of 5.3910.

The price of Brent oil was $77.50 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday.

Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 0.43 percent to close Tuesday at 94,408.109 points with a trading volume of around 6.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 399.90 point increase from Monday's close of 94,008.29 points, while it opened the day at 94,077.94 points.

The BIST banking index increased by 0.84 percent and the BIST holding index decreased by 0.49 percent.

Among all sectors, the mining sector index was the best performer, rising 3.39 percent, while the food beverage index was the sole sector to see a decline, down 1.79 percent.

The USD/TRY exchange rate decreased to 4.6420 as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) Tuesday, down from 4.6850 at Monday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate decreased to 5.4110 by market close, versus 5.4730 at the previous close, while the British pound/lira exchange rate stood at 6.1585, compared with 6.2350 at Monday's close.

The BIST Gold Exchange index ended the day with a 1.08 percent decrease. In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,256.45 as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) Tuesday, compared with $1,270.15 at Monday's close.

As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at $74.54 per barrel.
