UPDATE – Indonesia: Widodo leading presidential race

UPDATE WITH LATEST UNOFFICIAL RESULTS</p> <p>By Muhammad Latief</p> <p>JAKARTA (AA) – Early and unofficial results showed incumbent Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin are leading the race after 90% of the surveyed polling stations have been received.</p> <p>The duo managed to gain 53-55% of the votes, while former military strongman Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno trailing at 44-46 percent.</p> <p>Quick count conducted by Kompas, a local daily, showed the incumbent president is winning with 54.51% of votes against his rival’s 45.49%.</p> <p> </p> <p>Indo Barometer, a local survey agency, indicated that Widodo has been re-elected as president after winning 54.30% of votes against Subianto’s 45.70%.</p> <p> </p> <p>A survey conducted by another agency Charta Politika showed Widodo-Ma’ruf pair managed to get 54.46% of the votes, while their rivals obtained 45.54%.</p> <p> </p> <p>Another quick count conducted by Poltracking indicated that Widodo-Ma’ruf leading the race with 55.26% against their rivals’ 44.74%.</p> <p> </p> <p>Survey done by Indikator Politik also showed that Widodo is set to reclaim his presidency with 53.89 percent, while Subianto and his mate got 46.11 percent votes.</p> <p> </p> <p>Meanwhile, Subianto claimed a “real count” from more than 320 polling stations had placed him in the lead with 62 percent of votes.</p> <p>More than 192 million Indonesians went to the polls earlier on Wednesday to vote in the nation’s first simultaneous presidential and legislative elections.</p> <p>Both presidential candidates first ran against each other in the 2014 election, when Subianto lost by six percentage points to Widodo.
