UPDATE – Borsa Istanbul down at weekly close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index was down 1.43% to end Friday at 1,524.49 points.

Starting the day at 1,536.82 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 22.11 points over Thursday's close of 1,546.60 points.

During the day, the index's deepest point was 1,516.14 and highest 1,547.84 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.14 trillion Turkish liras ($154.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 31.57 billion Turkish liras ($4.26 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 28 stocks on the index rose, 70 fell, and two were unchanged compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by glass producer Sisecam, gold miner Koza Altin, and Turkish flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Sabanci Holding's subsidiary KordSA, a producer of industrial yards, single end cords and tire cord fabrics, was the best performer, with its shares up 6.98%, while stocks of conglomerate Dogan Holding dropped the most, losing 4.68%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1.847,55 by market close, up from $1.845,15 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $54.80 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday.
