ANKARA/EDIRNE/SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) – Turkish security forces on Tuesday arrested 12 people over their alleged links to the PKK terrorist group.

Earlier, prosecutors in the capital Ankara had issued arrest warrants for 14 suspects over their links to the terror group's youth recruitment organization.

Eight of 14 suspects were arrested in an operation based in Ankara.

Two other suspects, trying to flee to Greece in the northwestern border province Edirne, were arrested by gendarmerie forces.

In a separate operation in the Halfeti town of southeastern Sanliurfa province, two more suspects were arrested for operating on behalf of the armed terrorist group.

Multiple digital materials along with a rifle, two cartridges and 156 bullets were also seized by security forces in the operation.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people including women, children and infants.
