Turkish stocks up at year-end close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the last business day of 2018 up 0.92 percent to close at 91,270.48 points on Monday.

Starting the day at 90,675.11 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 835.15 points from last week's close.

One U.S. dollar traded for 5.2920 Turkish liras at daily close, while the USD/TRY exchange rate was 5.2720 by market close on Friday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.0550, versus 6.0490 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 6.7810 Turkish liras, up from Friday's close of 6.7060.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,280.00 by market close, compared with $1,278.20 at the previous close.

Hovering between $53.22 and $54.83 during the day, the price of Brent oil was around $53.32 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Monday.
