Turkish stocks open higher

ANKARA (AA) – Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 358.71 points to open at 77,796.29 on Tuesday.

The BIST 100 index rose 0.46 percent while the banking sector and holding sector indices advanced by 0.72 percent and 0.24 percent, respectively.

Among the sector indices, the mining sector advanced the most with a 0.75 percent rise, while the leasing and factoring sector index fell most with a 0.67 percent decline.

Analysts said investors would follow inflation figures of the U.K. and the U.S. set to be released Tuesday.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.0975 by the time markets closed on Monday, stood at 3.0920 early Tuesday.

On Monday, the two-year benchmark bond was traded within a tight range of 8.94 percent-9.00 percent, ending the day at a high of 9.00 percent, unchanged from its previous close.
