IDLIB, Syria (AA) – Turkey's Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) distributed 10 million loaves of bread to civilians in Syria's Idlib last month, an official said.

Zeki Tahiroglu, working as a local coordinator for IHH, told Anadolu Agency on Saturday that they distributed bread to residents of rural areas and in tent cities established for internally displaced people in Syria.

“We request our benefactors to continue supporting Syrian people, ” he said.

There are 4 million civilians — including local residents — living in Idlib.

Syria has only just begun to emerge from a devastating conflict that began in 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.

Istanbul-based charity group IHH has been helping war victims since the beginning of the Syrian civil war.
