Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up over 1% at open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index jumped 1.03%, or 1,233.63 points, on Tuesday to start the day at 120,476.43 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was slightly up 0.09% at 119,242.80 points, with a daily trading volume of 11 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was constant at 5.9860 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, versus the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was also unchanged, standing at 6.6220. One British pound traded for 7.8100 Turkish liras, it was 7.8250 at Monday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $54.90 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
