Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at start

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's stock exchange rose 0.36 percent, or 338.90 points, to open at 94,254.45 points on Tuesday.

On the second transaction day of the week, the Borsa Istanbul banking and holding sector indices gained 0.35 percent and 0.36 percent, respectively.

While all sector indices started the day on rise, the leasing factoring sector index posted the best performance, up 1.39 percent.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 93,915.55, up 1.29 percent, or 1,192.15 points, with a trade volume of 6.6 billion Turkish liras ($993.4 million).

One U.S. dollar traded for 6.6170 Turkish liras as of 9 a.m. local time (0600GMT) Tuesday, down from 6.6300 at Monday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate was 7.6680 by market open, versus 7.7110 at the previous close, and one British pound traded for 8.5240 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 8.5550 at Monday's close.

The price of Brent oil rose to $78.22 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, compared to $78.15 on Monday — climbing from around $66 at the beginning of 2018.
