Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.39% or 462.13 points on Wednesday to start the midweek at 120,036.23 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went down 1.01% to 119,574.10 points with a daily trading volume of 12.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0700 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday's closing rate of 6.0690.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was almost constant at 6.5540, versus 6.5520, and one British pound was traded for 7.9050 Turkish liras. It was 7.9230 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $58.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.

The Turkish Central Bank will hold its second monetary policy meeting of this year on mid-Wednesday to determine interest rates.
