Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.69%, or 830.52 points, on Monday to start the week at 120,981.96 points.

At the last week's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down by 0.32% at 120,151.44 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.17 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 6.0430 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, versus 6.0540 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell to 6.5490, compared to 6.5710, and one British pound traded for 7.9000 Turkish liras. It was 7.8970 at Friday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $57.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
