Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at midweek's open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.23% or 280.48 points on Wednesday to start the midweek at 122,416.65 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index jumped rapidly by 2.43% to 122,136.17 points with a daily trading volume of 12.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.9860 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday's closing rate of 5.9810.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.6080, versus 6.6070, and one British pound was traded for 7.8110 Turkish liras. It was 7.8150 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $54.40 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
