Turkey's Borsa Istanbul goes up at opening

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's stock exchange increased 0.19 percent, or 176.08 points, to open at 91,874.43 points on Tuesday.

The Borsa Istanbul banking and holding sector indices gained 0.51 percent and 0.10 percent, respectively.

Among all sector indices, the banking sector index posted the best performance while the investment trusts sector index dropped the most with 1.38 percent.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 91,698.34, down 1.69 percent, or 1.575,81 points, with a trading volume of 5.2 billion Turkish liras ($800 million).

One U.S. dollar traded for 6.4640 Turkish liras as of 9 a.m. local time (0600GMT) Tuesday, flat compared to 6.4620 at Monday's close.

The euro/Lira exchange rate slightly rose to 7.5180 by market open, versus 7.5010 at the previous close, and one British pound traded for 8.4600 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 8.4160 at Monday's close.

The price of Brent oil rose to $77.80 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, compared to $77.37 on Monday.
