ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey on Tuesday “strongly ” condemned the terror attack in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, which killed at least 2 people.

“We have learned with sorrow that the terrorist attack perpetrated yesterday at the Libyan National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) headquarters in the capital Tripoli caused casualties,” the Foreign Ministry statement said.

“We strongly condemn this terrorist attack towards an institution which has a key place in terms of stability and welfare of Libya,” it said.

“We wish God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, a speedy recovery to the wounded and convey our condolences to the friendly Government and the brotherly people of Libya,” the ministry added.

An attack on the headquarters of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) in Tripoli left at least two people dead and another 10 injured on Monday, according to the Interior Ministry.

Libya has remained dogged by turmoil since 2011, when a bloody NATO-backed uprising led to the ouster and death of long-serving leader Muammar Gaddafi after more than four decades in power.

Since then, Libya’s stark political divisions have yielded two rival seats of power — one in Tobruk and another in Tripoli — and a host of heavily armed militia groups.
