Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul flat at opening

ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index rose 1.07 points to open at 75,434.41 on Wednesday during its first transactions.

The banking and holding sector indices declined 0.03 and 0.06 percent respectively.

On the third day of the week, the tourism sector index increased the most, by 0.71 percent while the sport index started the day with the biggest drop — a 2.97 percent fall – following Istanbul football club Besiktas’s 6-nil defeat to Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate continued to decline, standing at 3.4530 at 10 a.m. (0700GMT) Wednesday, compared to 3.4650 at Tuesday’s close.
