Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at Tuesday's opening

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped 0.28%, or 340.43 points, on Tuesday to start the day at 120,451.43 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.53% at 120,791.86 points, with a daily trading volume of 14.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0580 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, versus 6.0480 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.5640, compared to 6.5550, and one British pound traded for 7.8930 Turkish liras. It was 7.8900 at Monday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $57.05 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
