ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index fell 554.85 points to open at 76,325.92 on Thursday during its first transactions.
The banking and holding sector indices declined the most, nearly 0.9 percent, while all other sector indices also started the day with a decline.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to stand at 3.5214 at 10 a.m. (0700GMT) Thursday, compared to 3.4750 at Wednesday’s close.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Federal Reserve increased its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percent.
