ANKARA (AA) – A Turkish court handed down jail terms to 115 Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) convicts, including former Turkish air force officers, a judicial source said Monday.

Ankara Heavy Penal Court sentenced 35 FETO suspects to jail for 8 years and 9 months over being members of an armed terror group, while the remaining suspects received up to 7 years and 6 months jail terms.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, during which 251 people were martyred and nearly 2,200 others injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
