Turkey condemns terror attack in Pakistan

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey on Wednesday condemned the suicide attack outside a polling station in southwestern Pakistan.

More than 100 million registered voters across Pakistan are participating in the country's general election.

In a written statement, the Foreign Ministry said: “We learned with deep sorrow that a terrorist attack perpetrated today [Wednesday] in Quetta, capital of Balochistan province of Pakistan, resulted in many loss of lives and left many others wounded.

“It targeted innocent civilians who were on their way to the ballot centers in order to exercise their democratic rights.

“We condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives, speedy recovery to the wounded and convey our condolences to the friendly government and the brotherly people of Pakistan, ” the statement added.

At least 28 people were killed and 30 others injured in the suspected suicide blast at a polling station on the eastern outskirts of Quetta, Pakistan private broadcaster Express News said.
