By Mustafa Yildirim</p> <p>IZMIR, Turkey (AA) – A Turkish court in western Izmir province has remanded in custody 26 people for their suspected links to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), a security official said on Saturday.</p> <p>The suspects were accused of being a member of terrorist organization, said the official, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.</p> <p>The majority of the suspects had served in Turkish land and air forces.</p> <p>FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured. </p> <p> </p> <p>Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
