Trump sues 2 banks in effort to thwart subpoenas

By Michael Hernandez</p> <p>WASHINGTON (AA) – U.S. President Donald Trump, his three eldest children and his organization have sued Deutsche Bank and Capital One to stop the release of financial records to Congress.</p> <p>“The subpoenas were issued to harass President Donald J. Trump, to rummage through every aspect of his personal finances, his businesses and the private information of the president and his family, and to ferret about for any material that might be used to cause him political damage,&quot; the suit reportedly says.</p> <p>The suit was filed Monday in federal court in Manhattan, according to multiple reports. </p> <p>The House Intelligence and Financial Services Committees subpoenaed Deutsche Bank and other lenders April 15 for records on Trump's personal and business records.</p> <p>Trump's lawsuit reportedly says immediate action was necessary because the banks said they would release the requested information by May 6. </p> <p>Deutsche Bank in particular is historically one of Trump's most frequent lenders. </p> <p>House Democrats in March asked Capital One for documents related to Trump's sprawling business empire that could include possible conflicts of interest, according to Politico.
