ANKARA (AA) – A suspected Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) member believed to be the leader of FETO-linked Turkish Air Force officers was arrested in Ankara late Thursday, according to police sources.

The sources who spoke on condition of anonymity said Gurdal T. is suspected of being a senior leader of contracted officers that FETO is believed to have placed in the Turkish Air Force. FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the July 15, 2016, defeated coup attempt in Turkey, which martyred 250 and left nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also blames FETO for being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
