TUNCELI, Turkey (AA) – A specialist sergeant was injured on Wednesday when an improvised explosive device planted by PKK terrorists detonated in the eastern Tunceli province, a security source said.
The incident occurred during a counter-terrorism operation by the Regional Gendarme Commandership forces against PKK terrorists in Alibogazi, Cemisgezek district, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
The injured soldier was rushed to Elazig Firat University Hospital in a military helicopter, the source added.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
