MOSCOW (AA) – Russia's prime minister met with his Pakistani counterpart in Shanghai on Monday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 1st China International Import Expo, according to a statement posted on the Russian government's official website.
Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Pakistan's Imran Khan on getting the prime ministerial post this August, calling Pakistan a “large and very promising partner ” for Russia.
“This is a good opportunity to discuss current affairs and maybe even come up with some interesting new proposals which could be implemented, ” he said.
Russia and Pakistan actively cooperate in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The two countries also play an important role in the Afghan settlement process.
