ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) – Pakistan's election authority on Friday announced the provisional results of 263 out of 270 seats of the lower house, the National Assembly.
The authorities are still waiting for results from far-flung areas of Balochistan province, the Election Commission of Pakistan said.
Center-right Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by former cricket star Imran Khan, has won 115 seats of the National Assembly.
Its arch rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of jailed former premier Nawaz Sharif trails at 63 seats, followed by centre-left Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) at 43 seats.
Five-party religious alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) failed to make its presence felt even in its stronghold northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southwestern Balochistan provinces. It won 11 seats.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) lost turf in its stronghold Karachi. It bagged six seats.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) secured five seats.
Sindh’s Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Balochistan National Party (BNP) won two seats each.
Awami Muslim League, Awami National Party (ANP) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) won one seat each.
Independent candidates across the country bagged 14 seats.

– Punjab
In Punjab, PML-N leads with 127 seats with PTI trailing at 123. Twenty nine independent candidates won.
Both parties will need coalition partners to form a government in the province.
The PML-Q secured seven seats and the PPP six seats.
Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, BAP and Pakistan Awami Raj won a seat each.
– Sindh
PPP is leading with 74 seats and can easily form a government in the province.
PTI secured 22 seats, followed by MQM-P at 16 and GDA at 11.
Far-right Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and an independent candidate won two seats each.
MMA also bagged one seat from Karachi.
– Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
PTI emerged as the single majority party with 67 seats.
Election on two seats was postponed after the candidates were killed in suicide attacks during the election campaign.
MMA won 10 seats, ANP six, PML-N five, and PPP secured four seats in the province.
Five independent candidates were also elected.
– Balochistan
The newly formed BAP bagged 13 seats followed by MMA with eight seats.
BNP won five seats, PTI four and BNP-Awami three seats.
ANP and Hazara Democratic Party won two seats each.
PML-N, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Jamote Qaumi Movement bagged one seat each.
Five independent candidates were also elected from the province.
The results from five far-flung constituencies is still awaited.
