ANKARA (AA) – La Liga on Wednesday celebrated the May 19 Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day in Turkey.

Spanish top-tier football league said on Instagram that they marked Turkish youth and the youngsters in La Liga as part of May 19.

La Liga shared a cartoon on social media in which there are many La Liga youngsters, including two Turkish players; Getafe forward Enes Unal and Celta Vigo winger Emre Mor.

Real Madrid's Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior and Barcelona's Spanish wunderkind Ansu Fati were in this cartoon too.

In a video shared by La Liga, Mor and Unal celebrated the Turkish national holiday each.

Unal added that they wish young Turkish athletes continue to work and pursue their dreams.

May 19, 1919, was the day when Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – later founder of the Turkish Republic – arrived in the Black Sea city of Samsun from Istanbul to launch the war that four years later transformed the nation into modern Turkey.

Ataturk dedicated May 19 to the youth of the Turkish nation as Youth and Sports Day – a national holiday that sees young people take part in sporting and cultural activities with official ceremonies across the country.
