ANKARA (AA) – World number 11 in tennis, Italy's Fabio Fognini will undergo surgery on both ankles, he confirmed on Saturday.

“I have been having a problem with my left ankle for three and a half years now. It’s an issue I have learned to cope with. Then my right ankle started playing up in the past 2 years as well," Fognini said on Twitter.

"After a medical examination and a long discussion with my team, I decided to have arthroscopic surgery on both ankles" he added.

Fognini, 33, had clinched the Monte Carlo Masters in 2019.
