GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have condemned ongoing Syrian and Russian airstrikes which have killed numerous civilians in Syria’s northwestern city of Aleppo over the last week and a half.

At a Monday demonstration in Gaza City organized by local youth groups, protestors hung a large red banner on the wall of the local UNESCO office symbolizing the ongoing bloodshed in Aleppo.

Protestors carried placards reading, “Stop killing the innocent”, “Save Aleppo’s children” and “End the bloodshed now”.

Said Suayb, a protestor, told Anadolu Agency: “We’re here to express solidarity with the people of Aleppo, who for almost two weeks have been the victims of relentless massacres”.

Suayb criticized the international community and human rights organizations for what he described as “their silence” in the face of the ongoing violence.

“This savagery must end,” he asserted.

Speaking via Twitter on Saturday, Izzat al-Rishq, a leading member of Palestinian resistance group Hamas (which governs the Gaza Strip), likewise condemned the “bloody massacres” being carried out in the beleaguered city.

Since April 21, Syrian and Russian warplanes have targeted civilian infrastructure in Aleppo — including hospitals, mosques and marketplaces — which has led to the death of at least 200 civilians to date.
