Football: Tottenham win first match at new home

By Can Erozden</p> <p>ANKARA (AA) – English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur won their first match at their newly opened sumptuous stadium Wednesday, beating Crystal Palace 2-0.</p> <p>The home team's South Korean winger Heung-Min Son went down in club history as the first player to score at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.</p> <p>&quot;There’s no place like home,&quot; Tottenham said on Twitter following their victory.</p> <p>&quot;I'm the happiest guy in the world!&quot; Son said after the match.</p> <p>According to British media, the cost to the club of the 62,062-seater stadium was £1 billion ($1.3 billion).</p> <p>Founded in 1882, Tottenham — nicknamed ‘Spurs’ — had to leave their home of 118 years at White Hart Lane in 2017 when construction work on the new stadium began.</p> <p>From 2017 to 2019, the team temporarily played at world-famous Wembley Stadium with 90,000 seats.
