Football: Title hopefuls to clash in Super Lig weekend

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkish football title contenders will meet in Week 26 of the Super Lig this weekend.

On Sunday, the leaders Trabzonspor will take on the second-place Medipol Basaksehir while the third-place Galatasaray will face the fifth-place Besiktas at home in a derby game in Istanbul.

As of Week 25 in the Super Lig, Trabzonspor are at the top spot with 52 points, followed by Basaksehir with the same points.

On Wednesday, in a re-scheduled match, Trabzonspor defeated BtcTurk Yeni Malatyaspor 3-1 to reclaim the top spot.

Sivasspor halted Galatasaray's 8-game winning streak after last Sunday's game with a 2-2 draw. Both teams have 49 points each.

Besiktas jumped to fifth place with 43 points to stay in the title race.
