Football: Fenerbahce midfielder heads to Saudi Arabia

ANKARA (AA) – Istanbul-based Fenerbahce's Brazilian midfielder Josef de Souza was transferred to the Saudi club Al-Ahli, the Turkish club announced on Thursday.

“Josef de Souza has signed for @ALAHLI_FC. We'd like to thank Josef for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future! @souza5,” Fenerbahce tweeted.

The Turkish club also confirmed 29-year-old's transfer in a written statement.

Also, Fenerbahce said in a statement that Al-Ahli would pay a €12 million ($13.85 million) transfer fee.

The Istanbul club signed the Brazilian international in July 2015.

De Souza scored 14 goals with 96 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.

Earlier on Thursday, the Saudi club announced the Brazilian had joined Al-Ahli on a three-year deal.
