ISTANBUL (AA) – The leaders of Turkey’s Super Lig, Besiktas, face Istanbul rivals Galatasaray this weekend in a crucial match in the run-in to the season’s end.
If Besiktas do not secure three points in the Sunday evening fixture at Galatasaray’s Turk Telekom Arena, second-placed Fenerbahce could draw level on 73 points when they face Basaksehir on Monday night.
Galatasaray have little to play for, having dropped to sixth place, 28 points behind the leaders.
Following the derby, Besiktas face Osmalispor at home and Konyaspor away in the remaining fixtures.
The Istanbul derby is due to kick off at 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT).
Fenerbahce will visit the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul on Monday, hoping to keep pace with Besiktas. The match is due to start at 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT).
