Euroleague: Real Madrid beat Anadolu Efes in Istanbul

ISTANBUL (AA) – Real Madrid edged out Anadolu Efes 80-78 in Istanbul on Thursday in Europe’s biggest basketball club competition, the Euroleague.

Madrid, left without veteran point guard Sergio Llull, managed to hold off Efes for their 10th win in the season as Luka Doncic scored 17 points and dished out 9 assists for the Spanish team.

For Efes, Brandon Paul scored 16 points but failed to convert the final possession when Thomas Heurtel was blocked by Gustavo Ayon.

The Turkish side has received their 8th defeat in the season.

In Greece, Olympiakos beat Fenerbahce 71-62 at Peace and Friendship Stadium.

The Greek powerhouse once led the match by 20 points (50-30), but Fenerbahce rallied in the 4th quarter, only to come up short.

Khem Birch scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Olympiakos, while Jan Vesely amassed 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Istanbul team.
