ISTANBUL (AA) – The 13th edition of Contemporary Istanbul will gather more than 80 art galleries from 22 countries in the city from Sept. 20-23.

Fifty-four international and 29 local galleries will take part in the event, said Kamiar Maleki, director of Contemporary Istanbul at a press meeting on Wednesday.

Maleki said that Gallery Support Program will assist art galleries economically. “We want to enable them to open exhibitions without spending too much,” he added.

Around 650 artists with nearly 2,000 works will participate in the event, which will gather the world’s leading galleries, artists, collectors, and art-lovers in Istanbul.

An invitation-only preview will be held on Sept. 19 at Istanbul’s Lutfi Kirdar Congress Hall where the fair will take place.
