ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,152.74 points on Friday, increasing 0.20% or 2.24 points from the previous close.
At the previous close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.17% at 1,150.49 points, with a daily trading volume of 18.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.37 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.9510 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.9270 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.3640 from 9.3060, while one British pound traded for 10.3210 Turkish liras, up from 10.2750.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $43.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
