ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,550.03 points on Friday, down slightly by 0.10% or 1.54 points from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index slipped 1.13% to close at 1,551.57 points on Thursday, with a daily trading volume of 30.38 billion Turkish liras ($4.1 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was up to 7.3900 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.3690 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.00 from 8.9500, while one British pound traded for 10.1500 Turkish liras, up slightly from 10.1300.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $55.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
