MADRID (AA) – A grenade-shaped belt buckle in a passenger's suitcase has caused a bomb scare in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Madrid, local media reported Wednesday.
Citing police sources, Spanish official news agency EFE said the alarms were triggered by a belt buckle in the suitcase of a woman traveling from Barcelona to Madrid.
Passengers from a major railway station in Madrid and from two high-speed trains in Barcelona’s main train station had been evacuated after the bomb alarm that proved to be false.
Spanish state-owned train infrastructure management company ADIF wrote later on Twitter that normal operations were resuming at the station.
