Yemeni defense adviser killed in Egypt road accident

CAIRO (AA) – A Yemeni defense adviser has been killed in a road accident in Egypt, Yemeni Ambassador Mohamed Ali Maram confirmed.

Maj. Gen. Abdul-Qader al-Amoudi, an adviser to the defense minister for human rights affairs, lost his live in a car accident west of Cairo on Monday, Maram said.

It remains unclear why the adviser was in Cairo.

Local media said the adviser was hit by a speeding car, but initial police investigation suggested that the accident was not planned.

According to media reports, the car driver involved in the accident was arrested.

Yemen has been beset by violence and chaos since 2014, when Houthi rebels overran much of the country, including Sanaa.
