Wounded Turkish soldier martyred in hospital

MARDIN, Turkey (AA) – One Turkish soldier was martyred in clashes with the PKK in southeastern Turkey on Thursday, an unnamed local security source said.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, the soldier died in hospital after being injured in an anti-terror operation in the Nusaybin district of the Mardin province.

In a statement on Thursday, the Turkish General Staff said three PKK terrorists were killed in the Nusaybin district.

The PKK – also listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015. Since then, more than 430 security personnel have been martyred and more than 3,800 PKK terrorists killed.
