World No. 2 Pliskova exits French Open

ANKARA (AA) – Number two seed in women's tennis, Karolina Pliskova from Czech Republic has been eliminated from the 2020 French Open over Thursday's loss in the second round.

The 2017 French Open champion, Latvian national Jelena Ostapenko beat Pliskova 6-4, 6-2 in Paris to march to the third round.

Ostapenko will face US player Sloane
Stephens or Spain's Paula
Badosa.

Meanwhile world no. 7, Czech player Petra
Kvitova booked her place for the third round, winning against Italian opponent Jasmine Paolini with the sets of 6-3, 6-3 in the second round.

Kvitova will play against Slovenian Polona Hercog or Canada's Leylah Fernandez in the next stage.
