World Cup: Senegal downs Poland 2-1 in Group H

ANKARA (AA) – Senegal defeated Poland 2-1 at Spartak Stadium in Moscow in World Cup Group H match.

The tournament action continued on Tuesday evening with Senegal and Poland playing against each other for the first time in history.

The African team managed to win against their European opponents, with goals they scored in both halves.

In the 36th minute, Senegal opened the scoring after Idrissa Gueye's shot was deflected by Thiago Cionek, deceiving the goalkeeper.

The Lions of Teranga increased the lead to two in the 60th minute, when Mbaye Niang using his power and speed to pull off a back pass by Poland midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

Krychowiak managed to pull one back in the 90th minute, but it was too little too late for Poland.

The victory marked the first win by an African country in the tournament.

After the first matches in Group H, Japan and Senegal top their groups with each getting 2-1 wins.
