ANKARA (AA) – France on Thursday qualified for the knockout stage in World Cup after beating Peru 1-0.
Thursday’s Group C evening match at Ekaterinburg Arena saw France taking the lead with a tap-in goal by young star Kylian Mbappe in the 34th minute.
Mbappe — 19 years and 6 months old — has become the youngest France player ever to score in a major tournament, including Euros and World Cup.
France increased their points total to 6 with the win and qualified for the second round, while Peru is eliminated after two defeats.
