RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Dozens of Palestinians staged a rally in the West Bank city of Al-Bireh on Tuesday in solidarity with detainees languishing in Israeli jails.

Protesters waved pictures of their loved ones and banners calling for halting Israeli violations against Palestinian detainees.

“Our message today is to show support for the detainees in their struggle against Israeli crimes,” Qadoura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, an NGO, told the rally, held outside the Red Cross office.

He warned that conditions of Palestinian prisoners were going “from bad to worse” in Israeli prisons.

According to official Palestinian figures, some 6,500 Palestinians are currently languishing in Israeli prisons, including 62 women and some 350 minors.
