Walmart urges US, China to build 'collaborative' ties

ANKARA (AA) – American retail giant Walmart on Wednesday urged the US and China to build a "collaborative" relationship amid worsening bilateral relations.

"It is our hope that these countries will work together, this administration and in years to come, to find ways to have a collaborative relationship," CEO Doug McMillon said in his appearance at Fox Business' Mornings with Maria program.

"We want to be able to do business in China," McMillion said. "I know a lot of American businesses and farmers want to as well."

The company has nearly 440 stores in China, and is building e-commerce operations there since the end of 2010.

Following the coronavirus outbreak, the worsening relationship between the two nations put the Phase 2 trade deal in danger as President Donald Trump accuses Beijing of letting the virus spread, which originated in Wuhan, China last December.
