Wall Street closes with records after rise in oil, tech

NEW YORK (AA) – Indexes on Wall Street closed at record high levels on Wednesday with rise in crude oil prices and tech companies’ stocks.

The Dow added 39 points to end the day at 22,158. The S&P was up a point to finish at 2,498.

The Nasdaq increased five points to close trading at 6,460.

All three major indexes closed at their all-time highest levels.

At the final bell, international benchmark Brent crude was up 1.6 percent to trade at $55.19 per barrel. American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was at $49.39 — a 2.3 percent increase.

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba saw its share rise 2.1 percent, while GoPro stock price increased 4.8 percent.

After introducing its new iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models on Tuesday, Apple saw its stock value decline 0.7 percent on Wednesday.
