Wall Street closes mixed with tech losses

NEW YORK (AA) – Wall Street closed mixed Tuesday as stocks of tech giants fell. 

The Dow Jones rose 13 points to close at 17,990 points while the S&P 500 was up about 4 points to 2,091.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq decreased 7 points to end the day at 4,888 points – the fourth daily decline for Nasdaq and its longest losing streak since December.

Tech companies reported losses Tuesday.

The world’s biggest commercial producer of thermal cameras, Flir Systems, lost nearly 8 percent, stock of while home appliances maker Whirlpool fell 3.5 percent. And Google also fell 2.3 percent.

Oil prices posted gains as American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was up 3.3 percent to $43.76 per barrel and international benchmark Brent crude was trading at $45.62 — a 2.9 percent increase – at the closing bell.
