Wall Street closes higher as US election nears end

NEW YORK (AA) – Wall Street closed with gains Tuesday for the second day in a row as the U.S. presidential election cycle comes to an end.

The Dow added 72 points to 18,332. The S&P 500 was up eight points to close at 2,139 and the Nasdaq gained 27 points to 5,193.

As the election draws to a close there was less certainty in the markets, leading investors to take a buying position, according to analysts.

Stocks rallied Monday, however, as indexes gained more than 2 percent after the FBI said Sunday its review of the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s e-mails would not lead to charges.
